“Drop two mixtapes in 6 months, what bitch working as hard as me?”
Cardi B officially sits atop the Billboard hot 100 chart to have the number 1 song in the country with her hit Bodak Yellow. While this is a special moment for Cardi B, the former dancer turned rapper; it is also a momentous feat being the first female rapper to be number 1 without any other billed acts since Lauryn Hill in 1998.
According to Billboard, “Cardi B is only the fifth female rapper ever to lead the Hot 100 at all. After Hill, Lil’ Kim ruled for five weeks in 2001 with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk on “Lady Marmalade”; Shawnna reigned as featured on Ludacris’ “Stand Up,” which topped the Dec. 6, 2003, chart; and Iggy Azalea’s introductory Hot 100 hit, “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX, led for seven weeks in 2014.”
It’s safe to say Cardi is among great company, and her star is still rising. COngrats to Cardi B on being #1!

In just 5 weeks of Being on the Billboard 100, Cardi B’s breakout smash Bodak Yellow climbs the charts to number 14. This is the highest charting single for a female rapper since Nicki Minaj’s hit Anaconda in 2014. The Bronx rapper’s star is steadily climbing, hopefully she can maintain her momentum.
