BET Announces New Hip Hop Show ‘One Shot’ W/ Sway, Kxng Crooked, Mike Smith & King Tech

BET has recently announced their new hip hop competition series, “One Shot”. Executive producers Mike Smith, Sway, Kxng Crooked, and King Tech have created a show far from your normal music competition series. The show was created to showcase the best up-and-coming hip hop artists rather than finding new talent or having artists battle it out.

“One Shot” will be hosted by Sway and will feature plenty of celebrity judge appearances including: DJ Khaled, T.I., The Game, RZA, Tech 9, Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Drama, Twista and E-40.

These judges will help vet thousands of aspiring rappers based on their skills, showmanship, and stage presence in search of hip-hop’s new superstar. “One Shot” is now TV’s only platform to specifically find and showcase new hip hop artists. The show premiers this summer and will provide the winner with a $100,000 prize and a record deal.

Right now the creators of One Shot are accepting submissions from new artists for a chance to appear on their show! FOr details on how to participate, visit My One Shot to get started!

Drake Grabs The Billboard No.1 Spot With Views, Sets Streaming Record

Last week, Drake dropped his latest album Views and with no surprise he sits atop the Billboard 22 at No.1. According to Nielsen Soundscan Drake earned 1.04 million equivalent album units in the week ending May 5 in the U.S. Traditional sales number for the first week are 852,000 copies sold.

According to Billboard:
“It was earlier reported that Views’ sales start is a personal best sales week for Drake, the largest for any album in 2016, and the biggest for a male artist in over three years. The last album by a man to post a bigger sales week was Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience when it debuted with 968,000 copies sold in the week ending March 24, 2013.

Views’ songs were streamed a record 245.1 million times in the U.S. during the tracking week. That sum includes plays of the album’s songs on Apple Music, as well as the handful of songs from the set that were available at other streaming services like Spotify. Previously, the biggest week for streams from an album was Beyonce’s Lemonade, which racked up 115.2 million plays for its songs during its debut week (ending April 28, 2016).

Views’ 245.1 million streams for its songs equates to 163,392 SEA units. (Each SEA unit represents 1,500 streams.)

Overall, Views’ overall units (album sales, TEA and SEA combined) is the largest for any album in 2016, and the biggest since Adele’s 25 collected 1.19 million units in its fifth week of release (week ending Dec. 24, 2015).”

COngrats to the 6 God as he continues to cement his legacy as a major superstar in music and in pop culture!
