THIGH GAP: NEW TREND OR DANDEROUS TEENAGE GIRL IMAGE OBSESSION?

The “Thigh Gap” is the new teen body obsession that is driving teenage girls crazy. A Thigh gap is the space between a girls thighs when she is standing up straight and her knees are touching. ABC’s Good Morning America sat down with for teenage girls who further explain the image craze.

As ABC reports: “Emily Rozansky told Chang that, for many teens, the thigh gap symbolized “the ideal body shape.”

Social Networking sites such as Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter all have pages dedicated to this topic. Showcasing beautiful women and girls who show off their beloved Thigh Gap to the world. Sounds to me like it’s just a bunch a women who can use an extra chicken wing or a burger no? Ehhh I like em’ a little thick anyway! ABC goes further to state that “According to teen psychologist Barbara Greenberg, statistics show that 80 percent of girls dislike their bodies by the time they are 17 years old. That, combined with a tendency to overshare, makes teen girls vulnerable to even the most subtle messages.”

America tends to spend way much attention on what the “ideal body” should look like, it’s everywhere! on TV, the Internet, billboards.. you name it! These young girls don’t need these kinds of distractions when there’s so much more to life than thigh gaps! What do you think about this new trend?
