Forbes annual Forbes list for Hip-Hop cash kings are in, and with a landslide Dr. Dre is the new cash king of hip-hop.
In the past 12 months Dr. Dre earned a staggering $620 Million in estimated pre-tax earnings. This is attributed mostly to his huge deal that involved his headphone company Beats By Dre and Apple for 3 billion. Forbes said Dre’s estimated annual earnings for the 12 months between June 2013 and 2014 are the highest of any musician in any genre it has ever evaluated, and more than the combined takings of the other 24 names on the hip-hop list released on Tuesday.
Tied at second is Diddy and Jay Z, who both earned 60 million in the last 12 months, mostly from, clothing, liquor and television deals. Up next is Drake who earned $33 million from his “Nothing Was The Same” album, endorsement deals etc. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis earned $32 million last year (cheers to the independent artist grind).
