Podcast Personality Daryl Campbell AKA Taxstone has reportedly plead guilty to federal weapons charges in connection to the May 2016 shooting incident at Irving Plaza in NYC. The shooting incident involved Tax, Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave & his body guard the late Ronald McPhatter aka Banga, who was shot and killed.
According to the NY Daily News, the Tax Season host Campbell, had a court hearing Thursday (June 15) where he copped to firearm possession as a felon and admitted to receiving a firearm in interstate commerce in connection to the venue shooting in NYC last year. This puts Tax’s freedom in serious question despite the Manhattan U.S. Attorney’s office not filing murder charges against Campbell.
DNA from the shooting that night shows prints from Troy Ave, Taxstone and Banga to be found on the murder weapon. Troy Ave was charged with attempted murder after being seen on surveillance footage shooting through the crowd but is currently free on bail. Taxstone however was denied his $500,000 bail after the government implied there would be more serious charges filed against him.
Prayers go up for everyone and their families involved in this unfortunate case. Hopefully justice swings in the right direction. R.I.P. Banga #FREETAX
